Ruidoso Convention Center Introduces New Web Site

The Ruidoso Convention Center went live this week with an all new Web site designed to promote bookings at the center and to generate lodging sales throughout the village of Ruidoso.

The new look is the first major revision of the center’s Web site since the center was opened in 1992, Lynn Holty, RCC conference coordinator, said. It was made possible with help from a graphics liaison hired by Leisure Hotels, which oversees event sales and concessions at the Ruidoso Convention Center under a licensing agreement between The Lodge at Sierra Blanca and the Village of Ruidoso.

Deanna Cheney, director of sales for the Ruidoso Convention Center and its licensing partner, The Lodge, commended Holty for her work on the project.

"Lynn, supported by fellow staff at the convention center and management with Leisure Hotels, has brought to life the distinctive nature of conventions in Ruidoso. The end result is an easy to read, informative and accessible system that will help buttress our sales efforts and those of meetings planners with whom we are in contact."

Cheney said the Ruidoso Convention Center positions itself as offering executive services at affordable prices and amidst rustic, mountain charm.

"We’re an intriguing combination of the old west and the contemporary; the natural world and the manmade environment," Cheney said. "We tried to not only ‘say’ that but ‘show’ it in our language and images. Photographs were submitted for the site by the Ruidoso News, by local amateur and professional photographers, and from hospitality operators and event planners in the region. Grindstone Graphics, also contributed.

Although still under construction, the new look and direction of the Web site can be viewed at www.ruidosoconventioncenter.com. Smarter, cleaner, and more meeting planner friendly, the site features a response mechanism whereby interested parties can request –electronically- date availability. A community profile, air/ground transportation service list, meeting space configurations, sales and event staff biographies and contact information, also are incorporated into the new site.

George Pappas, general manager of The Lodge at Sierra Blanca, said improvements to the Ruidoso Convention Center’s Web site reflects a $30,000 investment.
